Before you can initiate a domain name transfer request, you will need to have your EPP code handy. This is a domain password provided by your current registrar that authorises the transfer to a new registrar.
Your current registrar should provide your domain’s EPP code in their control panel. If you are unable to locate the EPP code, you can ask your registrar to provide it to you.
It is free to transfer Australian domain names. You can transfer your .au domain names to Sitefoundry at no cost. Your existing registration period will remain the same and your domain name will be up for renewal at its usual time.
Unfortunately, this is not the case with other domain names, which must be renewed at the time of transfer. In most cases, this means that you will need to pay to renew the domain name for one year. Rather than adding a year onto the expiry time, the new expiry date will be set to one year from the date of transfer.
